Company Wide Policies

For "Regular Service" fees, please schedule an appointment by 7:30 AM on the expected day of service. Early appointment scheduling (>24 hrs. prior to expected service) is strongly encouraged.

"Late Service" fees will be applied if an appointment call is received between the hours of 7:30 - 11:00 AM on the expected day of service. ​

"Emergency Service" fees are applied at the discretion of Gap Veterinary Associates, Inc. veterinarians and staff upon accepting the appointment request. This service fee accounts for the following factors: severity of patient's condition, time of day for service request, and current daily GVA case load.

"Daytime Emergency Service" is defined as occurring between 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM.

"Nighttime Emergency Service" is defined as occurring between 8:00 PM - 7: 00 AM.

Evening Hours, Weekends, and Federal Holidays always constitute as "Emergency Service" and will be billed according to the time at which your emergency call is received.

All clients are required to provide an able-bodied assistant to the servicing veterinarian for help with patient identification and restraint.

Prescription medication and supply ordering is available to our established clients.

​Free, same-day prescription medication and supply delivery is available during regular business hours Monday-Friday (excluding holidays) on orders exceeding a $50.00 minimum --- if a GVA veterinarian is within reasonable distance to the delivery location.

For free, same-day order deliveries, qualifying orders must be placed before 7:30 AM on the expected day of delivery.

If no GVA veterinarian is within reasonable distance of the delivery location, free-next day delivery will be made on the following business day.

A "Late Fee" will be applied to orders in which a client cannot delay delivery -AND- the order is received after 7:30 AM during business hours.

If a "Late Fee" applies to your order, a $50.00 minimum is not required. ​

Free office pick-up is available on all orders, please request this option when placing your initial order. Office pick-up location is: 5405 Lincoln Highway, Ste. 6, Gap, PA 17527 (entry is located at rear of the building).​

Any specialty items (i.e. prescription medications, vaccines, livestock products, etc.) that are not carried in-house by GVA will be ordered via our Business Manager. Upon order, a delivery time estimate will be provided. ​
Cattle
Client Policies
- Yearly Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) forms are required to be signed with a GVA veterinarian. ​
- Review of your Herd Health Plan (i.e. treatment protocol) and past Treatment Records will be required at the time of VCPR establishment or renewal.
- VCPRs are renewed at the start of the calendar year.
- Reproductive examination and pregnancy diagnosis is offered via rectal palpation AND/OR transrectal ultrasonography.

​If GVA pregnancy checks 10 cows within a six month period, your farm will qualify for discounted trip fees. Please contact GVA for further information on your farm's potential savings!

GVA reserves the right to refuse regular herd work AND sick cow work if your farm utilizes pregnancy diagnosis via ultrasonography administered by an unlicensed individual/organization (currently illegal per PA state law) OR by a different veterinary practice. Right to refusal is at the discretion of GVA ownership and management.

GVA proudly works with farms that utilize blood or milk testing for pregnancy diagnosis. If your farm utilizes these services, please feel free to call GVA to discuss how we can best implement herd health services into your reproductive routine!

Dog/Puppy
Client Policies

Puppy checks are offered as a pre-sale examination to our clients. ​

Puppies must be at least 6 weeks of age or older for puppy check examination.
- At the time of appointment scheduling, please have the following information available:
- Seller's Name
- Seller's Address
- Seller's Phone Number
- Breed of Litter/Puppy
- Total Number of Puppies in the Litter (Including # of Male and Female Puppies)
- Birth Date of the Litter
- Preference as to whether or not you would like a GVA veterinarian to administer first DAPP vaccine and first dewormer dose (pyrantel pamoate).

- Tail docking and dewclaw removal are available upon request.
- These procedures must be performed within the first 5 days of life of the litter - per Pennsylvania State regulations.​
- Health certificates ("Certificate of Veterinary Inspection") and flight charts are available after a brief examination by a GVA veterinarian. GVA requires at least a 24 hour notice prior to scheduling a call. ​
- International health certificates are available upon request. Please call as soon as possible to allow GVA veterinarians and staff to review international regulations that may be required for movement of pets into a new country.

Guinea Pig
Client Policies
- Yearly veterinary inspection is required for USDA licensure in the form of a valid Veterinary-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). If you are in interested in pursuing USDA licensure for the production of guinea pigs, please call GVA today!​​
